you want to be seen as an authority. It is one of the most visited pages on the website. If people like your content, they’ll want
to know more about you So this is your chance to connect with them, keep them interested, and convince them that you’re the person they should trust and work with. So how to write About Me page for a website
the way that it would be your powerful marketing tool? Here are 5 steps that will help you to nail it down. Step number one focus on your audience. While it supposed to be about you and your story, your visitors will be curious mainly
about the next three things: What’s in it for me? Am I in the right place? Can you help me with my problems? As you can see, at the end of the day, your
About Me page still needs to be dedicated to your readers. There, you will tell them WHY they should be on your website and then connect with them through
your story, telling that you get them. You’re the one who understands them and know how
to help. Step number two – have a great first impression. Start with the hook. Begin with something that will resonate with
people right away so they would think “Yes. Here can be something for me” It may help to clarify: Who is this for? and what will a reader get or know? For example, Alex Nerney and his partner Lauren
McManus use a very eye-catchy headline on their About Page. It says From Broke and Frustrated to $100,000/Month
Blogging in 3 Years This one sentence has everything: their life
story in one headline, the results they’ve got and how they got there, which is through blogging. They use the questions and statements
to connect with their audience Is this real? Is this just another get
rich quick BS scam on the internet? And the part I want to ask if YOU can
relate to any of these give a sense that Alex gets you. Frustrated and feeling trapped at your 9-5 Feeling like you never have the level of freedom
that you want Unable to travel like you’ve always wanted to Do you see how the beginning of this About
Page makes people feel “Hm, I want to know more about those people and how they’ve done
it. Maybe I can do this too” Another example, Hal Elrod. He put at the
top of his About page a testimonial that boosts his authority right away. Then he has a headline that shows what he
does, followed up with his mission and then his personal story. Mike Kim started his About Me page clarifying
right away that he specializes in personal branding, product launch strategies, and copywriting. If that’s what you are interested in you
will stay there and keep reading. Step number three – share your story that
builds credibility Write your story the way people can relate to you. It may include the next segments First, what are you currently doing? And how did
you get there? Second, how does what you’ve done before connected
to what you do now? The third one, why people should listen to you and trust you? The fourth one, a few key life-changes that brought you where you are And the salt one, how you can help people to solve their problems? Feel free to have all of them or just a few
and also change the order. Focus on the most important parts. Let’s see how others use this on their About Me page. Justin Brown, a face behind Primal Video studio. He
starts with his background of working 20 years in the film industry. It has a summary of his experience working
with videos and helping entrepreneurs to use videos for marketing their businesses. While the story is about him, it emphases
the audience and how he can help people. It answers all our five questions. What are you currently doing and how did you
get there? The beginning is what he has done before and
how it connected to what he does now, which is his previous experience of working with
videos and filming for entrepreneurs. It mixed up with why people should trust him.
The good roles here play the numbers, references to well-known names, mentions of work with
the clients, testimonials, references to the major publications that featured you, etc. Justin has 20-years of experience, now-Netflix-featured
documentaries, Jeff Walker-style 3-part video series, One of my clients saw how effective
videos were… – the testimonial part. The key life-changes that brought him to what
he does now were that he got busier and couldn’t help his clients as much as he would want to. Then he came up with the solution to teach
business owners to create content without the high cost of hiring him one-on-one. You see how he used his story to connect with
people, let them know that he gets them and experienced enough to help them. The next part to include into your About Me
page is Call-to-Action. What do you want people to do?
Do you want them to subscribe to your email list? Do you want them to schedule a consultation with you? Do you want them to introduce you to your online product? Remember? About Me page is one of the most
popular pages on your website, then use it to generate leads. Here are several ideas for you to use Justin Brown’s About page finishes with
the offer to subscribe to their free stuff. That can be an embedded form on the page or
like in this example a pop-up window that appears when you click Subscribe button. Mike Morrison specializes in helping people
building membership sites. In the end of his About page is call-to-action
to Join his paid program Membership Academy. It shows the main benefits that you get if
you join it and the video explaining what is inside of the Membership Academy. If you’re interesting you click the button
to check more details and get to the landing page that sells Membership Academy access. One more example, if you’re a consultant,
coach or speaker you can use this idea. Neen James is a professional speaker. After
sharing her story on About Me page, she shows some major media appearances and, in the end, the call-to-action is to contact her or download her speaker kit. Step #5 in creating About Me page is images
and videos. When you position yourself as an expert have
your professionally taken portrait on the page. Many people who will read your About page
have never met you in person. Along with your story, your portrait helps to create an impression about you online. You can also mix up the text of the page with
the images or even videos to support your story. As you know, images worth a thousand words. Let’s look at the BossMom About Me page. Right at the top, it starts with the big emotional
image and the mission of the site. Looks impressive. Let’s scroll more to
see what it’s all about. Then we have a story of how boss mom started
which captures the readers on an emotional level. Dana shares that she felt lonely and
isolated, she needed a support system and that’s why she started a site for other mom
entrepreneurs to help them. It follows with a funny video of the community
members Boss Mom Dance Party with the call to action to join the community. Then some of Dana’s personal facts and again
her portrait so we get to know her more. Next is the Boss Mom team photos. And some behind the scenes of the events where
Dana was involved. Pictures and videos help to create a vivid
image of your personality and what you do. And the bonus tip.
You know, it’s so obvious thing, but you will be surprised how many people miss it. Please, include your full name somewhere on the page. There is nothing worse when people want to
connect with you or write to you and they have no ideas what your name is. It happened to me several times when I saw
a good content online, and could potentially invite a person to be a guest on our Marketing
for Creatives show and I couldn’t find who is the author. So, I just passed on that. What a pity to miss an opportunity because
people don’t know how to call you. Now, let’s summarize all the steps.
Step number one – focus on your audience Number two – have a great first impression The third step – share your story that builds credibility. And five questions that will help you in that:
What are you currently doing? And how did you get there? How does what you’ve done before connected to what you do now? Why people should listen to you and trust you? A few key life-changes that brought you where you are. And how you can help people to solve their problems? The fourth step in creating your About Me page is you add Call-to-Action And the last one
Add images and videos Don’t forget the bonus tip. Make sure that you included your full name somewhere on your site Now, in the comments share a link to YOUR
About page and if you want, write where you are from, what you specialize in. Let’s get to know each other more. At the
end of the day, any social media is the community. And you are the real person behind the account. If you want to grow your personal brand and
audience faster, I created a detailed guide that shows a step by step process of how to get
more media appearances on the niche podcasts. It will teach you how to position yourself
as an authority, how to find the podcasts and how to pitch podcast hosts to more likely
be invited for the interview. So if you want to download it for free there
is the link to it in the description below.
