agenda with timestamps. Think of this tutorial video as a resource that you can revisit again and again, and if you need to skip to
a specific portion or part, you can easily refer to this slide to see where every single part of the video is. So the first thing we’re gonna do is talk about what you’re going
to get in this video. After that, we’re going
to share instructions for our $250 giveaway, which is this month’s current giveaway. We like to do monthly giveaways
here at WebsiteHelper.ai and give back to the community. Next, we’re gonna talk about why WordPress is the number one website
builder and platform compared to Squarespace, Wix,
Weebly and even WordPress.com. Next, we’re gonna teach you how
to start a WordPress website in just one easy step, then we’re gonna help you
choose an amazing website name. After that, we’re gonna
give an introduction to WordPress’ dashboard
and give you a quick tour, and then we’re gonna share
all about the wonderful world of WordPress plugins and share
the best free page builder to make your website drag and drop. After that, we are going to create a beautiful homepage together in minutes that you saw in the introduction and we’re gonna be able to do all this point-and-click in just minutes. Next, we’re gonna share how
to make your first blog post and how to make that look beautiful and professional as well. Then the last part of the setup is to talk about WordPress themes and sharing the best WordPress
themes for your website. After the initial setup where most other WordPress
tutorial videos end, we’re gonna teach you how to
make your WordPress website secure from hackers and malware, then how to max out your
website’s performance out of the box so that you
can get lower page load times, which in turn will increase
your Google rankings and last but not least,
we’re gonna teach you how to get traffic to
your brand new website through SEO or search engine optimization and email marketing. So, let’s begin. First off, if you’re new to our website, which is WebsiteHelper.ai, what we do is we offer 100%
custom website tutorials for your exact goals and budget. It’s super easy. All you have to do is

programming experience required. Next, we recommend the absolute best products and software with minimal bias. So, we make it our mission
to be completely transparent and genuine and share products
that are truly the best rather than only promoting products that pay the highest commissions. And last but not least, what
separates WebsiteHelper.ai from all the other resources
and websites out there is that we actually
help you with everything after setting up your website, whereas most other
resources only teach you how to set up a website, we
teach you how to get traffic, how to get email subscribers,
how to get customers, how to monetize your blog and so forth. Now, here’s what I’m promising you in this specific tutorial video. I’m gonna teach you how to get started for less than 10 cents per day. I’m gonna save you money
and show you the best value by helping you choose the
best WordPress web hosting and also show you only what
you need and nothing you don’t. So none of the upsells and no extras that just cost more money. Next, we’re gonna have a
website that is fast and secure at no additional cost by
the end of this video. I’m gonna help you to
decrease your page load times, which in turn will increase
your page rankings in Google and also prevent your website
from hackers and malware. And the last part of this
tutorial, as promised is helping you for everything
after setting up the website, such as getting traffic, SEO, which is search engine optimization, and getting your first email subscribers and adding an email
signup to your website. All right, so this month, we are doing a $250
giveaway in this video. At WebsiteHelper, we like
to do free monthly giveaways to give back to the community, and joining the giveaway
is extremely easy. There’s only two steps. All you have to do is first, like this video and comment below how to make a WordPress website. Step number two is just
subscribe to our YouTube channel and hit the notification bell, and as an optional step three, you can visit WebsiteHelper.ai to see current and future giveaways along with subscribing to be
notified of every giveaway that we’re gonna have. All right, so without further ado, here’s why WordPress is number one. All right, so the first
part of our video today is why WordPress? And I’m gonna give you
the top three reasons why WordPress is the best
website builder today. So first and foremost,
33% of the entire web runs on the WordPress platform, from the world’s biggest
websites like techcrunch.com to personal blogs,
anyone can use WordPress. It’s completely scalable no
matter if you’re just one person or if you run a company
with hundreds of people, WordPress can handle your website. Second, WordPress is open source, which means unlimited customization. So open source means that
there are more developers working on improving WordPress than any other comparable website builder. You can create virtually any
website you can dream of, all thanks to free plugins. If you want to add a
forum to your website, all that takes is downloading a plugin. If you want to turn your website
into a social media network and allow people to register
and create profiles, again, all you have to
do is add a free plugin and your WordPress website can do this. And the third reason is to save money. WordPress is the lowest
priced website builder. Starting at less than $3 per month, a self-hosted WordPress website is much cheaper than any
comparable website builder, up to 88% cheaper in some cases. Just for reference, here
is a chart comparing the most popular website
platforms and their prices. So, you’ve probably heard of
Squarespace, Wix, and Weebly. So here, we’re comparing the
self-hosted WordPress.org to Squarespace, Wix,
Weebly and WordPress.com. Now, WordPress.com, for
those who don’t know, is actually different from the WordPress that we’re gonna be using today. The one we’re using today is
called self-hosted WordPress using WordPress.org and it
is the open source version that is much, much more powerful, it’s completely future-proof
and it has so many plugins that you can use, not to
mention, it is so much cheaper. So this chart compares
all these website builders using the same exact features. And as you can see,
self-hosted WordPress is by far the least expensive platform
compared to any of these. Squarespace, Wix, 18, $17 a month, Weebly, the most expensive at $25 a month and WordPress.com for the same features that you can get with a
self-hosted WordPress.org website, which I’ll show you how to
create today is $25 a month. So, as you can see, it’s no
comparison when it comes to cost and also for the features involved, WordPress is by far the
least expensive option. Here’s how to start
making a WordPress website in just one step. So before you used to
have to get three things to create a WordPress website, you’d have to get a domain,
aka, a website name. Second, you’d have to get
web hosting with servers so that your website would
actually be live on the Internet and third, you would need WordPress, which is known as a CMS or
content management system. Basically, you can think
of it like software. You would download this,
install it onto your web server, connect it to your website
name and boom, you’d be online. But these days, you can
actually have all three including a free domain
name, a web hosting server and WordPress automatically
installed in just one step, just by signing up for web hosting, which I’ll show you how
to do in just a minute. Now, the first thing is we need to choose an amazing and memorable
website domain name. So the first step to doing this is to use our free
domain name checker tool to make sure that your
name is available first. Visit WebsiteHelper.ai/domain. Now, your website name,
as you can see here, an example would be YourNameHere.COM. The goal of our website
name is to be our brand. So, you wanna keep it short and sweet. One way to be more memorable is a shorter and more unique domain name. Domains like these become
less and less available as time goes on because
people start to come up with similar ideas and try
to register that domain. So the domains that are
just simple and short and just one word, they
tend to be taken by now so you want to go after
something that’s unique, original and hopefully,
as short as possible. So I recommend you try
to get a .com first. A .com is typically the most valuable since it’s what the average
person is used to seeing and typing in. It’s like the first natural instinct when someone gets online. But if the .com is not available, you can get creative with the
other domain name extensions. So, some examples include
.net, .org or .co. Just because someone owns a .com doesn’t mean they own
that specific wording. So you can actually make
it .net or .org or .co and make it just as legitimate
and even outrank the .com on the Google Search rankings, which we’ll share how to
do later in this video. So the next step is web hosting and again, all you need to
do is sign up for web hosting and you get the website
name for free for one year and then you get web hosting, which means your website’s
live on the Internet and last but not least, you get WordPress installed automatically. Now, our recommendation for
web hosting for beginners is Bluehost, and here’s three reasons why. First reason is if you go
to WordPress.org/hosting, Bluehost is the first choice on the list and it has been for years. So it’s actually officially
WordPress recommended by WordPress themselves. It doesn’t get better than that. The second thing is WordPress is automatically installed upon signup. You don’t have to manually
install WordPress yourself like you have to do with some of these other
web hosting companies since Bluehost immediately
installs WordPress directly after signup, which I’ll walk
you through in just a second. Last but not least, you get to save money. So Bluehost starts at
less than $3 per month, a self-hosted WordPress website is much cheaper than any
comparable website builder as I’ve shown you
before, up to 88% cheaper and you also get your domain
name free for the first year. We’ve created a partnership with Bluehost to offer you a discount for
WebsiteHelper.ai subscribers and you can access this discount link in the description
below or on our website. Note that this does not
add anything to your cost and in fact, actually saves you money by offering you a discounted
price and at the same time, WebsiteHelper does receive a commission if you do make a purchase, which helps WebsiteHelper to keep creating high quality content and resources and keep that free for life. All right, so after you
find an available domain, all you have to do is click next so you can start signing up with Bluehost. So here we are at the checkout page. You can see our domain
name, the .com is available so all you need to do is sign up. The first part is just filling out basic account information. This is just going to be
your personal details, name, address, email address. Now, the more important thing to look at is the package information. So real quick, let me just
explain to you the best value when it comes to signing up with Bluehost and getting the most bang for your buck. So the first thing is you’ll notice here that we do have the $2.95
per month as promised and you can see here,
this is the 36-month plan. So this is a three-year plan
where you’re gonna be paying a little under $3 a month and basically,
you can have a website for a total cost of a $106.20 if you go for a three-year plan. So if you divide it up,
it’s about $35 a year to have this website. Now, if you wanted to do a shorter plan, you’re gonna see that the price is gonna go up by a dollar per month. So if we go down to the 12-month,
this is the bare minimum. Your monthly rate goes to $4.95 a month, which is still less than $5 a month. That’s less than the price
of a cup of fancy coffee or a fast food meal these days. So basically, for less than the price of one fast food meal per
month, you can have a website for a total cost of $59.40. Now, if we go down to
these package extras, you’re gonna see some things
that are already checked. Now, here’s my recommendation
if you wanna save money. You don’t need any of these
extras except for one. So I’m gonna take off the SiteLock and I’m gonna take off CodeGuard. Now, you’re gonna see, our total cost comes out to just $71.28. Now, if you take off everything, we basically go down all
the way to the $59.40, but my recommendation is you keep the domain privacy protection. The domain privacy protection
at just 99 cents per month, so it’s less than a dollar per month. Basically, it protects your domain name, so if somebody were to
look up your domain, let’s say foodblogging247.com, they will not be able to see any of your personal information. So the way it works when
you get a domain name online is you have to put your
personal information and contact information. If you use domain privacy protection, what happens is Bluehost will take over and they will fill in
your personal information with anonymous information. So what ends up happening is
they see Bluehost information and their email and their address but they don’t see yours anymore. So for less than a dollar per month, I think this is a great investment to keep that privacy and peace of mind. So all in all, this
comes out to just $71.28 and again, you can see here, we’re saving 44% off today
by using our discounted link. So for $71, you get a
website for an entire year with domain privacy protection
and everything included. Now, if you want to go up
to the three-month plan, you can see, it just goes up to $118.08, and this is for three
years of having a website with the domain privacy protection. So honestly, not a bad deal at all. You can go either way. Now, I do wanna offer one more option for people who are looking
to create multiple websites. So here I am on Bluehost
website and you can see there are multiple different plans. So we were just looking at the basic plan, which honestly, if you’re only looking to create one website, then this is the best
value at $2.95 per month. Now, if you have plans
to make multiple websites or at least one or two more websites. So basically, anything more
than just the single website, then I do recommend you
go for either the Plus or the Choice Plus plan
because at less than $5 a month or $5.45 a month, you can
have unlimited websites with one low monthly price. So basically, it’s not
that much more expensive than the $2.95 per month but
you get unlimited website. So you can create a second,
a third, a fourth, a fifth, a sixth website if you
want to for the same price. Anyways, after you have chosen your plan, all you have to do is fill
out your payment information and if you wanted to use PayPal, you can click more
payment options right here and you’ll see that PayPal
actually gets unlocked. So, if you want to pay
via credit or debit card, both are accepted and then
PayPal is accepted as well, which accepts a lot more
especially if your international, you might want to try
using the PayPal option if the credit, slash,
debit card does not work. So after you fill out your information, all you have to do is read the
remaining terms of service, cancellation policy, privacy policy. This is just part of the
rules and then click submit. All right, so after the
payment goes through, you will see this congratulations page, and there may be an offer. You can just click no thanks to move on and then they’re gonna say that you can create a
password for your new account. All you have to do is click
the green button, set password, and you can finally login
to your brand new account. Once you’ve created a new password, you will see the screen and
it may last a few minutes while Bluehost installs WordPress. So again, this may take a few minutes, I’m gonna fast forward this and move on to when WordPress is installed. So you can see here,
WordPress has installed and the first thing they’re gonna ask you is to pick a theme that inspires you. Now, this is not that important because we are actually going
to be changing the theme. So whatever theme you choose now, we’re gonna end up changing
later in this tutorial video so you can just choose any
of these that you like, and then we can move on. So one more time, Bluehost is going to be setting up
WordPress officially for you and that may take a few minutes. Once it’s all done, you will see this page that says, All done! Start Building. So click the blue button and now, we can log into
our WordPress dashboard. So here is the WordPress dashboard. I’m going to give you guys a
quick tour of how this works and I’m gonna help you
navigate throughout this and explain every single
piece of the dashboard and how this all works. All right, so on this page, Bluehost is gonna ask
you what kind of site do you wanna make today
but you can actually click the I don’t need help because
I’m gonna be helping you today to make your website faster, more secure, more beautiful and easy to
edit with drag and drop. Now, when you click
this I don’t need help, you’ll see this coming soon active message and you also see that
orange message up top. What this means is if you
visit your website right now, you’ll actually see a coming soon page rather than your actual homepage. So what you wanna do is
click launch your site when you’re ready which you can access on the left-hand sidebar through Bluehost and then click the
launcher site here up top. Now, looking at this left-hand sidebar, this is actually your
main form of navigation and this is how you can control most of the parts of your website. This is how we can change the theme, this is how we can add new plugins, this is how we can create a new blog post or add a new page to our website such as a contact us
page or an about us page, which we will be creating
in this tutorial. Now, first things first, I
want to show you plugins. So let’s go into plugins on
the left-hand sidebar here. All right, so we’re going
to hover over plugins on the left-hand sidebar and
we’re going to go into Add New. So just click Add New and
I’m going to introduce you to the wonderful world
of WordPress plugins. So, I was saying earlier how if you wanted to turn your website into
a social media network or add a forum, all you have to do is literally click Install Now and then just activate this plugin. So you can see bbPress is forum software, made the WordPress way, and you can see there’s over
300,000 active installations. That means this plugin is used in over 300,000-plus websites. So you can click Activate and
boom, the plugin is activated. So basically, plugins is what
makes WordPress so amazing. So here, we just added the forum plugin to add a forum to our website but I wanna go back into
plugins and show you a few more notable plugins
that we’re going to add to our website to make it even better. So right now, we’re just
looking at the featured plugins and you can see BuddyPress is something that adds community
features to your website, which basically turns into
a social media network. So, I just show you this right here. You can actually see some screenshots of what this looks like
and you can see people can create profiles. You can see activity streams just like a Facebook Timeline
feed, similar to that. You can also see that people can customize their own profiles, they can
add different avatar images, they can add friends and
there’s just so much you can do, even up to private
messaging between users. So, as you can see,
very, very powerful stuff and most of these plugins are actually completely
free to start using and there are premium versions of plugins but they generally tend to cost anywhere from $29 one-time fee to maybe up to 50 or
$70, just one-time fee. So, there are literally
hundreds of plugins that are extremely powerful and I’m gonna show you
the best plugins today to add to every single WordPress install to make it faster, more
secure and more beautiful. So, first things first. The first plugin I wanna
share with you guys is actually right here and we actually have it already installed. So Elementor is a page builder. This is the first plugin
I want you to install now and activate. We already have it on our page and I’m gonna show you how it works. You can see here, Elementor has over three-plus
million active installs. And if you just look at
some of the screenshots, maybe we can just see it turns your website into
drag and drop editing. Now, one thing that most people don’t know is that WordPress is not drag
and drop out of the box, okay? You can’t simply do the things that are in these images
right here, right? And these animations where you can just edit things very easily and you can just
immediately change anything that you want to simply by clicking it. So this turns WordPress
into a drag and drop editor just like Squarespace, just
like Wix, and just like Weebly but what makes WordPress even better is in addition to just the visual editing, you can actually add so
much more functionality and make your website so much more complex in terms of adding any sort of function you want to your website
using free developer plugins and this is why open-source
is the absolute best way to go because with open-source, you have literally thousands of developers who are developing amazing
plugins and functionality to help make WordPress the best
website platform out there. So, once you have Elementor
installed and activated, I’m gonna show you a quick
demo of how Elementor works by creating a new homepage. Now, a page. Pages, if I go into Pages right here. Pages on the left-hand sidebar are basically static
pages on your website. This is your homepage,
it’s an about us page, it’s a contact us page. These tend to be things that
don’t really change too much and they aren’t as temporary as, let’s say, an article or a post. Now a post is like a blog post. It’s like an article. If you have a food blog,
it’s like posting a recipe. Posts tend to be the
smaller chunks of content, whereas the pages tend
to be the larger main navigational areas of your website. So the first thing I wanna
do is create a homepage. So, what you can do is
you can either add new or I have one right here
that I’ve already built. So you guys can click Add New and I’m gonna walk you through this on how to set it up using Elementor and how to use this drag
and drop page builder, which is so powerful and
makes editing your websites so much easier than stock. So, right here, we’re
looking at the editor page but the first thing you wanna do, because we’re using Elementor and not the stock WordPress editor, you have to change Page
Attributes on the right over here to Elementor Canvas. What this does is it
clears the default theme and the default page and it allows us to start from scratch using Elementor. So, now that we’ve set Elementor Canvas, you wanna click Update or publish, which will be this blue
button in the top right and you’re gonna click that to make sure that it takes effect. Now, next step is the fun
part, we get to edit the page. So click this blue button,
Edit with Elementor, and you’re gonna see the
page builder is gonna load up and it’s gonna pop up on your screen. So right now, we are here inside Elementor and you can see, I
already did a little work to make the website that
you saw on the homepage but I can show you how
to easily recreate this in just a few minutes. So, the first thing you wanna do, you’re gonna have just a default page that’s not gonna have any of this on it. So, when you open up your
Elementor page for the first time, it’s not gonna look like
this but all you have to do is literally click this folder right here, which will allow you
to open up a template. Now, templates are pre-built web pages that you can easily edit and it’s a nice starting
point for any website. And the one we’re using on this page is actually a completely free template. There are pro templates, as
you can see here, that are paid but then we’re using a free one, which is homepage agency right here. So if I click into this, this
is the theme that we’re using, we’re using this template and what I did is I
changed certain elements that I’m gonna show you how I did that. So, we’re gonna insert that and when you insert that onto the page, that’s what gives you what
you’re seeing right now. And all I really did was
add my website’s logo, and I also changed the text and I change the background
image right here. So, the first thing I wanna teach you is how to change this background image. All you have to do is click
into this section right here. You’re gonna see a blue tab up top. You’re gonna wanna click
this middle button right here or just click into this
section and on the left, you’re gonna see how you
can edit the section, and you have things like layout. So, layout allows you to, basically, you get to change
the dimensions of this section but you can also leave it as is and as you add elements to each section, it will naturally expand because Elementor is a smart page builder. It can basically form
itself and be responsive to the things that you’re adding. Now, to change the background image, you go over to Style. And in Style, you’ll already see, I have the background image right here. There was another image before and I was able to click into this and I was able to upload my own image, which was this plate of food right here. Now, I have a great tip for you, guys. If you struggle with finding images, I suggest you use the
website called unsplash.com, and that’s actually what I did right here. And all I did was search up food. Now Unsplash basically allows
you to use these images and most of these, if not all of them, are actually royalty-free and you can actually see
the image I use right here. Thank you, Brooke Lark and you can see this is the image that I use. When you click it, you can actually download
the image for free and it will actually say
crediting is not required but is appreciated. So I do recommend that you give credit and I’m giving credit right now. Thank you, Brooke Lark
for this beautiful photo that helped to make a beautiful website. So, once you get that
image, what you can do is upload that onto
this Insert Media page. So let me just do that one more time. You got the image
downloaded on your computer and then we’re gonna click
into image here on the left and then you’re going to upload that and then you’re gonna add it and you can see we’ve
already added this image, and then boom, it’s gonna
show up in the background. Now, one cool thing I wanna show you that it will actually be really helpful is Background Overlay here. Because you can see it’s kind
of darkened in the background so that the text can stand out. If you want to change this, you can simply change
the opacity slider, okay? And you can make it
either lighter or darker, depending on how much you
want your text to stand out and how much you want the image
to be prominent on the page. So, you can move this around. By default, it was somewhere over here but I wanted to show a little
bit more of that color, a little bit more of this
beautiful dish we have right here. It’s such a great image, and
so I turn the opacity down and you can actually see
a little bit more of that while still be, while still being able to read the text. And again, the text, super simple to edit. All you do is click into it
and then just start typing. So I can say, hello, welcome
to my tutorial video. Smiley face. So, I did that live. I’m doing it live right now. Now, if you want to change the font, you want to make this bold, you can easily just click
into this, go into Style and then click Typography
here on the left, and you can see, you can
easily change the font size, say anything you want. You can change the
boldness, which is weight. So weight is the
boldness, so if I go bold, you can see super bold. If I go to 100, it goes super
thin, super skinny and light. So weight is like your boldness and then obviously,
you have the font size, you can change the actual font itself, and you can also change, if you want, everything to be all
uppercase or all lowercase or whatever you choose. You can change that to default but typography is how you’re
gonna be able to change any of these headers or text
blocks that you want to edit. All right, so one more thing I wanna show you with
Elementor is elements, okay? So, basically, an image like
we have here, which is our logo and one thing I wanna show you guys is I got my logo done for just $5 from a website called Fiverr. If you haven’t heard of Fiverr. there’s a link in the description below. So Fiverr is a freelancer community where you can get various
services done for as little as $5, and that’s how they actually
got the name of their website. I’ve been using Fiverr for years to have custom logos made for my websites and this is one that you’re
actually seeing right here. This is a logo that you
can get done for just $5 from a professional graphic designer and I, myself, am not a graphic designer, I’m not good with
creating things like this, so I hire someone else to
do it for as little as $5 and I get an amazing product
at the end of the day and I’ve been super happy with Fiverr. I’ve used it for so
many different services. You can literally have anything outsourced that you don’t enjoy doing and you’d rather have an
expert take care of it, I highly recommend you check out Fiverr. So I got this logo, right? And I got it made and I
added it to my website by adding an image. So, an image is one of the elements that you can see right here. All you have to do is drag and drop, boom. And you can just click into here just like we did with the background and then you can choose the image. So you can see, I uploaded the logo here using the upload files option at the top and then you can see I
already added the logo earlier and you can change that
to anything you want. And here’s some stock
imagery that’s included as part of the template, and you can see I easily added this image. You can change the image size,
you can change the alignment if you want to the left,
middle, to the right. Now, if you want to get rid of an element, you can simply right click into it and then just go into Delete. so right click is actually
an interesting feature that you can use within this because it can allow you
to easily edit things such as the section if
you wanna duplicate it. Sometimes, you wanna duplicate sections because you already set up a proper layout and then you just wanna be
able to change a few things. I’m gonna exit out of that but you can easily copy, paste duplicate, you can save as a template
if you’re gonna be using and creating multiple
pages that look like this and then last but not least, you can delete an entire section
or just a single element. So I’m just gonna delete
this text box right here just to show you guys
how easy it is to delete. So once you have your page looking the way you want it
to look, at least for now, you want to always click
UPDATE in the bottom left. UPDATE is what basically allows you to save your progress and save
your website the way it is. If you don’t click UPDATE, you’ll probably lose your
progress and have to start again. So if you’ve been editing for hours or for a long period of time and you’ve made a lot of changes, I highly suggest you click
UPFATE early and often as much as possible. This is your save button. Now, if you wanna go back into WordPress, you can easily click the
top three lines right here in the top left and then
click EXIT TO DASHBOARD once you are done. All right, so one quick
thing I wanna show you is that you can turn any
page into your homepage. And to do that all you have
to do is go into Settings, and then Reading. So Settings, Reading from
the left-hand sidebar and you’re going to change
your homepage displays from your latest posts to a static page and you will select the page that you want and you can see Home is
the only page available. This is the one we were just working on. Select Home and click Save Changes. So now, when you visit Food Blogging Pro, so we’re just gonna visit
our website right here, you’ll see that our
homepage, without any slug, is going to be that page
that we were working on just a moment ago. So, there it is. Okay, let’s go back into the dashboard. Now, the next thing I wanna show you is how to create your first blog post. So to create a blog
post, all you have to do is go into Posts and then click Add New. Now, I have a couple different
posts I wanna show you based on two different themes. One, using Elementor and one using the default WordPress theme. Let me show you the
default WordPress theme. First, if you wanna create a new post, all you have to do is click Add New just like we did with pages. Now, I created this post
just using WordPress and not using Elementor,
and let me tell you why. When you’re creating a post, sometimes, you just want something that’s
simple and easy to read, and the default WordPress theme,
which is 2019 for this year and even in the future, you will actually still have access to the
previous year themes. So you actually have access
to 2018, 2017 and beyond. Now, this is basically a simple blog post. You have the title up top here, and then I started writing this article and you see this is a little text block and then I added an image. So, this is actually a new
feature in the latest WordPress where you can actually add elements, somewhat like Elementor. Before, there was no such thing as adding blocks and elements and having something like this. It used to be just a normal text editor. So, it’s gotten a little better but I still recommend Elementor
for creating your pages where you can actually really control and drag and drop a lot
of graphics and images. This is only for making a post. So, I started writing this post, I even added an image
that I got from Unsplash like I showed you guys. And the cool thing about
using the default theme is that it does look pretty
good and pretty clean. So when I click preview right here, you’re actually gonna see the page and you’re gonna see the post and it’s gonna actually look pretty nice. Simple but nice. It gets the job done, especially when you’re just
trying to create a simple post. So this one was a recipe and I actually download a
recipe plugin right here and it’ll how me to actually
create a little recipe card. I didn’t fill out the rest of
it but as you can see here, it’s pretty cool, you can
even print out the recipe, so I think that’s really awesome
especially for a food blog. Again, plugins, they add
so much functionality to your website. You can create any kind
of website you want, add any sort of functionality to look like your
favorite blogs or websites that you already use. Now, I’m gonna show you what it looks like when you create a post in Elementor. So, I go back and then you can see here when I go into the second post, you can see that I’m using Elementor because it says right here. And to do this, it’s the same process as we did with the page, you have to set the page
attributes on the right sidebar to the Elementor Canvas. If it’s set to default template, which it will be, by default, then that is going to use
whatever theme you are using, which was the WordPress 2019 theme, which I was showing you, guys. Now, when you use Elementor Canvas, it’s the exact same thing as the pages. You get to choose a template and then you use that template
to write out an article, and I actually use the template
for creating a blog post, and there was only one free
template for making a blog post and I’ll actually show
you guys the one I use but it’s actually really, really slick, it looks very beautiful. So again, when you open
up a new page or a post, you’re gonna get this Elementor Canvas and it’s gonna just show you this section where you can either drag
a widget or use a template clicking the gray folder icon. And so basically, you can see right here, what I searched up was blog posts. So search a blog post and you can see the exact theme I’m using right here and all I did was insert this, okay? So the main things I wanna
show you that I changed here is I change the title, okay? And I changed it using
the typography under Style and then typography to make it bold and to also make it a larger
size as you can see right here. So what I did is I changed the text, I made it easier to read, I made it larger and then I changed the background. If you just click into the top right here and then like to click
into here, these dots, and then go into style
on the left-hand sidebar and then I just changed the background. If you go into background overlay, I put the image of the recipe
that I got from Unsplash, and you can see, I changed
the opacity as well. One more cool thing
I’m gonna show you guys if you are using this blog post theme is go into Shape Divider under Style on the left-hand sidebar and you can actually
change this right here. So, this is actually a bottom
divider and it’s set to tilt. Now, the default one is actually Clouds and you can see it creates this own just the slick background image right here but instead of just being a normal cut, it’s actually a shape. So, you can do all sorts
of different things and make it look really, really amazing and this is something that I just thought was a very, very cool
thing that was included in the free Elementor. This is another reason
I love this page builder and I ended up choosing Tilt because I thought that was just a nice, simple, clean look right there and then I click UPDATE to save that. So, you can choose one or two ways. You can either have the default theme, which looks not as slick, not
as cool as using Elementor but it’s still useful
because it’s easy to read, it’s a great default font. You can still add images to brighten it up and at the end of the day, you can add things like this recipe plugin to make it even more functional. So, it’s your choice. Do you want to go after style or do you want to go after function? Either of these works and that’s basically how you create a post and you
can create a post on anything. It can be a blog post, it can be a recipe, it can be a review. So that right there is
how you create a post. All right, so to show you an
example of using plugins again and integrating them into pages is we’re going to create a
contact us page together. So the first thing we need to do is go into Plugins on
the left-hand sidebar and click Add New. So the plugin we’re gonna be using is actually one of the popular plugins and it’s called Contact Form 7, which you can see right here. Over five million active installations. We’re just gonna click Install Now and then we’re going
to activate the plugin once it is installed. All right, great. So we have the plugin
installed and basically, you’ll see Contact Form 7. If you click into Settings here, this is all of our installed plugins, in the Settings, you can see
we have a default contact form and you’ll see this thing
called shortcode right here. Now, you can either edit the contact form, which you just need to click into here and then you can see all
the different entries, you can see if you
wanna ask for their name or other information and
whether or not it is required, and so if that looks good to you, this is just a basic contact form. Name, email, subject and message. You can take the shortcode right here and we can copy and paste
this into any of our pages and even the post and this
will summon the contact form. So let me show you that by creating a brand new contact us page. So we’re gonna click Add New on Pages. I’ve copied the contact form shortcode and I have that ready. And so we’re gonna call
this Contact Us, right? And then we’re going to copy
and paste that shortcode, and you can see WordPress
has actually identified we are using shortcode right there. All right, so now that we
have the shortcode here, I’m actually just gonna go
ahead and publish this page. Now, we’re not using Elementor, we’re using the default theme because I just want this to be readable, I want to make sure that
the shortcode works. All right, so now that we’ve
published our contact us page, I’m gonna view the page just to make sure that everything is working all right. And as you can see here, beautiful. We have our contact us form right here, the one that was default and
all we did was copy and paste that quick shortcode and we
have a working contact form and contact us page. Simple. You can use Elementor and you can try to integrate the
shortcode but I recommend, if you wanna just keep things simple and you wanna just add something
like a simple contact us, I think it’s better to use
the default theme at times just because it’s easier to read and there’s not gonna be
any issues with the layout or the formatting compared to Elementor, which is all custom formatting. Great, so I’m back in the dashboard and I want to show you guys about menus because we have multiple pages now and I want to add those
pages to the top navigation of our website so that people
can easily go back and forth between our homepage, contact us page and whatever pages we add in the future. So to access the menus, you
go into Appearance on the left and then you go into Menus. So, I have a couple menus right here. You can even create a
brand new menu if you want but you’ll already have either
Main Menu or Primary Menu. Either of these work. If you wanna edit one,
you have to choose it and then click Select. But basically, once you have a menu, you can add the different
pages of your website, which you’ll see here on
the left-hand sidebar. So, we have the Most Recent
and you can actually View All but as you can see, we
only have two pages. So I’m gonna add the
contact us page to our menu. Now, when you’re dealing with this menu, what you can do is you can
either move the order around just by dragging and dropping or you can actually create a submenu just by moving a menu
below another menu item. So as you can see here, I
put Contact Us below Home and it would actually
show up as a drop-down but I actually wanna
keep it out in public. I’m wanna have both of them
showing at the same time. Make sure you check the
Primary and Footer Menu if you want this to show
up up top and at the bottom when the theme allows it. So we’ll click Save Menu to make sure that we save the progress here, we’ve added the contact us page, then I’m gonna go back into the Pages and show you what it
looks like to have that. So, this is one of our posts right here and I’m gonna refresh this page and then you’ll see next to the Home is now a working Contact Us page. Super quick, we did that Contact Us page from start to finish and
literally like a minute or less. So that’s how easy it is to add pages, create new pages and then make
sure to add them to a menu so that you are constantly
updating your website. All right, so the last
thing I wanna show you before we get into site
security and performance and getting traffic is
to talk about themes. So if we go to the left-hand side bar, underneath appearance, we have themes. Now, Elementor, in a way, is our theme because we’ve transferred
over to a page builder rather than relying on
just one strict layout. We’re actually using
Elementor as sort of a theme. It’s a hybrid between a
theme, a page builder, it can do it all but if you
are curious about themes, which we have used the default
2019 theme for WordPress for our blog posts and
for the contact us page, you can actually look
at some other themes. If you go into Themes and Add New up top. So adding a new theme is kind
of like adding a new plugin. Most of them are free to
completely just download, install and start using. Now, I do wanna warn you. So, a lot of these themes do look good but there are two things
that kind of keep me away from using these themes we see here. The first thing is most of
these themes are premium. So if you want to edit them in any way and be able to change the colors, you can’t just do that
on the free version. So it’s almost like a free trial. And on top of that, you can’t
really edit these themes through drag and drop like
you can with Elementor. So it’s another reason why I stay away from these freemium themes because one, you have to pay more to
actually change anything and two, you actually can’t
really change that much and you can’t change
it using drag and drop. That’s why page builders like Elementor take your WordPress website
to a whole ‘nother level. It makes it just as easy to edit this as it is to edit a
Squarespace or a Wix website, but at the same time, much cheaper but much more functionality,
thanks to plugins and thanks to the open source platform. So, that’s my two cents on these themes. You can check them out,
you can install them, you can even try them out for free. Another thing is that performance-wise, these themes are not
optimized for performance, a lot of them are actually
just really fancy-looking on the outside but they
take forever to load, which is gonna hurt your page performance, which in turn hurts
your customer experience and also your page ranking, which we’ll talk about in just a bit. So, just an example, if you
want to use any of these themes, and there are literally, I think, hundreds of themes available, actually, you can see thousands of themes, and if you wanna go even
further, you can Google for some aftermarket themes
and you can find some from some other websites
that are pretty fancy, pretty nifty as well. If you want to learn more about themes, you can check out WebsiteHelper.ai/THEMES to see our recommended
themes and page builders. I personally prefer page builders for the reasons that I just explained why I love Elementor, especially for a free page builder, Elementor can do it all as
we’ve seen in this video. But if you do wanna try
one of these themes, all you have to do is click Install and then all you have to do is activate it just like we activate any of our plugins. I’m gonna hold off on that because I wanna stick with
the default 2019 theme. It’s very clean, it’s very lightweight, which is fast for performance. Now, speaking of performance, now, we’re coming to
the part of the tutorial where I’m gonna teach you how to maximize the performance on your website and also maximize the security. WordPress is a great
platform out-of-the-box but it can be made so much better, thanks to some free plugins that I’m gonna show you and
recommend to you right now. So, most WordPress tutorials and websites stop at just teaching you how to set up the WordPress website. But what sets apart WebsiteHelper.ai is we teach you everything after the setting up of the website. So making your website as
fast and secure as possible, and in addition to that,
actually getting visitors and getting traffic to your website because what good is having a website if nobody sees it, right? And we’re gonna help you
with some of that right now but if you want to see
more, visit WebsiteHelper.ai and you can learn much more about how to take your WordPress
website to the next level compared to the factory
stock version of WordPress. All right, so the next
topics I want to cover are one, how to make
your website more secure. Two, how to increase your
website’s performance and three, how to start getting traffic to your brand new website. So, the first thing
we’re gonna take care of is how to make your website secure, and we’re gonna be able to
do this through two plugins. So, the first plugin that I
want to recommend to everyone, and this is for any website regardless of what the goal of your website is, whether you sell your own products or you sell other companies’ products or you try to get your
own clients and so forth, you need to get this plugin right here called Really Simple SSL. So you can look this up in
the search bar right here or you can just go to the popular plugins and it’s actually one of
the top nine right here, and Really Simple SSL has over three million
active installations and what this plugin does is
it makes your website secure so that your website always uses the HTTPS protocol right here. So, to explain things really simply, if someone visits the HTTP
version of your website, you’re gonna get a notice in the top left if they use Google Chrome and
it’s going to say not secure. Now, if you look on the top left and you visit a few websites today, you might notice that
some of these websites may have a lock and some
of them may say not secure. Now, for your website, you
want to have the lock on at all times to show your customers and show the people who
are viewing your website that they can trust your website because at the end of the day, when it comes down to your
website and gaining authority and trust with your
customers and making sales, it comes down to them being
able to trust your website and making sure that they can
put their payment information if they want to order an item or purchase something from you, they need to be able
to trust your website, which is what this lock does. So for every page of my
website, I have this lock because I installed Really
Simple SSL, I activated it, and because I got my
website through Bluehost, they actually have a free SSL certificate, which is this lock right
here, it’s the HTTPS, it is the most secure protocol and I had that on my website. And if someone tries to visit
the HTTP version of my website without the security protocol, what it will force them
to visit the HTTPS version and thus, getting the lock and removing the not secure warning. The number one thing
we want to try to avoid is the not secure message in the top left. So that’s the first thing. It’s very simple. So once you have the plugin, all you have to do is activate it and I think it actually
activates automatically and it just instantly makes
your website a lot more secure, it forces people to use the
secure version of your website. It’s very easy to use. All right, so after we have
Really Simple SSL installed and we’re enforcing HTTPS on our website so we don’t get any not secure messages and we always have this
lock which people can trust, the second plugin that you must have for maximum security on your
website is a security plugin. Now, there are three top
brand name security plugins that have millions of users, and I’m gonna share with you
those top three right now and give you my recommendation. So the first one is actually right here. This is called Wordfence,
and Wordfence is a firewall, it’s malware scanning on your website and essentially, these three plugins, they tend to do a lot of the same tasks but what these plugins do
is they attempt to identify any inconsistencies with
your WordPress install or with your website as compared
to a normal healthy website just to see if there are
any loopholes, any bugs, any hackers who are trying
to modify your website without your permission
and also on top of that, they close up a bunch of
well-known vulnerabilities and bugs and loopholes that people use to try and get unfair
access into your website. So the first one is Wordfence and the other two are going
to be Sucuri and iThemes. So, you can just search for those here. I’m gonna show you both of them right now. So I’ve searched up iThemes Security and you’re gonna see right here as close to a million
active installations. This is another great
security plugin right here. It does a lot of the stuff
that the other two do as well. I think that this one
does not have a firewall. I could be mistaken, I haven’t
used this one in a while but it is a very useful plugin, and again, most of these plugins
do a lot of the same tasks and it just covers up any of the possible security loopholes that
hackers like to access, this will close those loopholes
and solidify your website. Now, the plugin that I’m
gonna recommend to you out of these three is Sucuri. So you can see Sucuri, it’s not as popular as Wordfence which has over three million installations but Sucuri is actually the plugin that a lot of the top, top
companies who use WordPress and even who don’t use WordPress use for hardening their website. So, security hardening which
I’ll show you in just a bit. Basically, it just
strengthens our website, it closes up any of these
potential bugs and loopholes and it also has an active firewall and an active malware scanner to let you know and notify you the second that something
doesn’t seem right, it gives you an email notification so you can go check it out and
you can look deeper into it. And if you sign up for
the premium version, they will actually go ahead
and just get rid of any malware and just do the job for you in terms of getting rid of
any sort of modified files that shouldn’t be modified or anything that just looks wrong, what they do is they’ll
remove the malware, they’ll remove whatever
is causing the issues and they will uninstall and reinstall certain plugins or
themes that are affected and have modified code. So Sucuri is actually
installed onto this website and it’s the one that I do recommend. So I highly recommend these two plugins, Really Simple SSL and
then any of the top three security plugins, which
I’ve used all of them and they all work pretty great. So Wordfence, iThemes Security and Sucuri, which is the one that I
like to use on this website. All right, so now that we
have our website secured from hackers and malware, the next step is to improve
our website’s performance. Now, performance is important
for two main reasons. The first reason is that a faster website is just a better customer experience. We want to create our website in a way that is going to be
a positive customer experience for potential customers and clients who are visiting your website. We want to create a lasting impression. And so things like having
the not secure icon in the top left, right? That destroys trust, and
it also creates a negative customer experience. Now, if your website
took 10 seconds to load, that’s another negative experience and we want to make
sure that our customers have a positive experience. So, in addition to that, the second reason why we want to have maximum performance and to have lower page
load times is that Google actually factors in your
page speed loading times and performance into its rankings. So if we are trying to rank on Google and get organic, free traffic, then one thing we need to do is make sure that our website is performing at its best so that we can get the
lowest page speed times and the best performance, which in turn, will help us in the Google rankings and then we’ll have our website showing up more on the
Google Search results, which results in more
traffic to our website. So there are two main plugins to help you with increasing your
website’s performance. Now, if you scroll down, I’m here in the add new plugins section and I’m just scrolling down here. It’s actually under the popular plugins. The first plugin that is going
to be extremely important is W3 Total Cache. So this is a caching plugin
and as you can see here, it’s a search engine and performance optimization via caching. So what is caching? Basically, a caching plugin allows users to download a part of your website to increase your page performance and to decrease the page load times. So, when you use something
like total cache, it can reduce the load
times, which in turn, increases your Google page rankings because they factor in load times so we’re trying to get the load time down to as little as possible. And a caching plugin is
absolutely essential to get there because plugins like W3 Total Cache use the latest best practices, and you can see here some of the benefits. Improvements in search
engine result page rankings especially for mobile-friendly websites and sites that use SSL. So I just told you in the
security part of this video, we are using SSL with that
plugin Really Simple SSL. And so basically, this
plugin kinda works with that because not only do we have
a website that’s secure, it’s actually loading faster, thanks to using another
plugin in addition to that. So sometimes, these plugins, they kind of build upon each other and when you combine them, that’s when you actually
see better results from your WordPress website. All right, I’m gonna quickly show you what W3 Total Cache looks like just to give you an idea of how it works and how you can use it. So, W3 Total Cache is gonna show up on your left-hand sidebar as performance and that is a great name for it because that is exactly what
it does to your website. It basically dictates your performance. Now, here’s the dashboard
for W3 Total Cache, and basically, you can look
up some other tutorials. I don’t wanna spend too
much time in this video because we do have other
videos on WebsiteHelper.ai that can help you when it comes
to page speed performance, how to increase performance,
how to increase security, so on and so forth but
I just wanna give you a quick overview so you
can see what it looks like. And so we’re here inside W3 Total Cache and you can follow some quick tutorials on how to get it started. You just go to the general settings and all you have to do
is turn on a few things. So, you go in the general
settings here on the left and then you can immediately
start using this plugin just by enabling the Page Cache. This is going to decrease
the response time of the site and then you can save that setting. Now, there’s so many other things to do and they depend on what your
goals are with your website. So I suggest you look
at some other tutorials that we will have on WebsiteHelper. If you’re going after maximum performance, you will need to use
something called a CDN, which is a content delivery network and if we go back to the dashboard, the main content delivery network that W3 Total Cache is integrated
with is called StackPath, and you can actually
sign up for StackPath. I believe they have a free version but I do use a paid version
just to get the most out of it. And basically a CDN allows
people to download your website from the closest servers geographically. So let’s say you have a visitor
who is visiting your website and let’s say your main server
or the server closest to you is in California, okay? And then let’s say your visitor
is visiting from the UK. Maybe they’re visiting
from England, London, something like that, it
would not make sense for them to download the website from the server that is in San Francisco. It would make a lot more sense to download the website from
the server that is in the UK because there’s less distance to travel, the load times will thus be faster. So that’s what the CDN does. You can look into that and adding that if you want maximum performance. But just having the free
W3 Total Cache plugin and activating it is already going to be a performance improvement. Now, I wanna show you the second plugin that I think is really useful for websites in terms of minimizing the load times. So, I’m back at the add new plugins page and I’m looking at the popular plugins. And this plugin, you will
actually also find on this page if you scroll down, it is
called Smush Image Optimization, Compression, and Lazy Load. So, I already have Smush installed and activated on my website, and what Smush does is that
it compresses and optimizes all the images on your website. Now, this is really important
because most people, when they upload images to their website, they aren’t paying attention
to the size of the images. I recommend you always try
to upload smaller images and even if you have a bigger image, make sure you crop it
so that the dimensions are never bigger than an actual webpage because if your dimensions are
something like 3,000 by 2,000 but people are only looking
at let’s say 1,024 by 1,024, you don’t need all that extra space because no one’s even gonna see it. Also, it’s gonna make you
have a bigger image file, which means when someone
visits your website, they have to download that image. Now, WordPress does a good
job of compressing images and turning them into smaller files and smaller dimensions but
still, you want to compress the image as much as possible and this happens before the upload. Now, here’s the thing. If you’ve already uploaded a
bunch of images to your website and you haven’t compressed them and it’s kind of another
step to compress images and you’re kind of lazy like me, what you can do is you can
download the plugin like this and it will retroactively
go into your images and it will smush them and compress them and optimize them, even looking back. So all you have to do
is go into the plugin and literally click BULK SMUSH NOW and it will start compressing your images. And the more space you save, this means less data that your customers or your visitors have to download, which means faster load
times and faster load times means better ranking on
Google’s search rankings. Now, I’m using the free
version of Smush right now but the pro version is
actually really worth it because you can actually
super smush an image, which means it can become twice as small as the regular compression with
no visible loss in quality. So it’s pretty awesome. I use the premium version myself. I believe it’s something like 30 or $40. So, another key feature of
Smush that I like to use is called lazy load, which
you’ll see right here on this left-hand sidebar. So the way lazy load works is if someone is loading up your webpage, it’s only going to load the images that they can immediately see. It will load up the further
images down the page once they start scrolling
down to that section but it will not load it
until they scroll down to that section. Now, lazy loading is nice because
it saves server bandwidth. So someone is not downloading
the entire webpage if they’re not gonna
look at the entire page, and also, it just helps with
decreasing the load times and again, anytime we can
decrease the load times, it’s a better customer experience and we get to rank higher
on Google Search rankings. So as you can see, I
just activated lazy load and then all you have to do after you look at your different settings is to save changes and boom, now, you have lazy load on your website, which means less server usage,
it means quicker load times and you get all the benefits. So those two plugins, W3 Total Cache, really is like the heart of any WordPress website’s performance but doing things like compressing
and activating lazy load can further increase performance. Now, if you wanna learn
more about increasing your website’s performance
outside the scope of this video because we’re gonna move on to talking about getting traffic soon, then you can check out WebsiteHelper.ai, we have a ton of resources
on how to further increase the performance of your website and really just squeeze every last ounce and to gain the best performance and lowest load times possible
on your WordPress website. All right, so now that our
website is both fast and secure, the next step is to go
out and get traffic. To actually get people
visiting our website because what good is it
having an amazing website if there’s nobody to see it? So, I’m gonna teach you a few things that we’re gonna touch upon
and I’m gonna share with you how to get free traffic and how to start using paid advertising to also help get visitors to your website. Now, if you want to learn more, again, WebsiteHelper.ai is the source for learning about taking
your WordPress website to that next level. Now, the first thing I
wanna share with you is SEO or search engine optimization. So you may have heard of SEO before but basically, the way it works is when some of these searches
something up on Google, if your website pops up on that first page in those rankings, that right there is called being search engine optimized, so, SEO. So the number one plugin
we need to use for SEO is called Yoast SEO and it’s actually here in the add new plugins page under popular. You can see Yoast SEO right
there, you can even search it up but you can see over five
million active installations. It is honestly a must-have if
you have a WordPress website. And as you can tell, we’ve
been using a lot of plugins and this is the reason
why I strongly believe that using WordPress,
especially, the full version, which is self-hosted WordPress.org, not the free WordPress.com version, this is the secret to creating an amazing future-proof website from
basically starting as a small blog to getting millions and
millions of visitors a month and not breaking in the process because we have access to
powerful plugin such as Yoast and all the security and speed plugins to optimize our website to the fullest. So let me show you how Yoast works. I’m gonna go into one of the
posts that I made earlier and then basically, I’m gonna show you how to optimize this post for
the search engine rankings. So I’m gonna go into this
post right here, right? And what we’re gonna do is
we’re going to activate Yoast and it might already be activated, and you can see right here, if you just scroll down
to below the content, you’ll see that Yoast already
has this section right here. Now, the way it works is by default, this is what it looks like
when someone is looking up your website or if they look up an article and you pop up in the rankings. Now, if you look at this, you’ll see that this
isn’t exactly optimized. It says Oven Roasted Chicken
Recipe – Food Blogging Pro, which is the name of my website but then you don’t see that
description right here. So what I love about
Yoast is it allows you to change any of this so that you can actually
optimize for the search engine because if people are actually looking up, let’s say, oven roasted
chicken recipe for families, so let me just call it
chicken recipe for families, or I’ll just do for family because we’re trying to
cook for four people, right? So what I’m gonna do is
I’m gonna edit the snippet and instead of just having
oven roasted chicken recipe, I’m gonna make my own SEO title. I’ll say The BEST Chicken Recipe for Your Family in 30 Minutes or Less! All right, doesn’t that look pretty good? And I could still add the
Food Blogging Pro name. You can see that this turned to red because we actually
typed way too many words and you wanna stay
within a specific amount. So you can either take this out or I can just say in 30 mins. Okay, let’s see, 30 mins, there we go. And then I fit the website name. You don’t need to have this. You can just have the name of the article. Now, on top of that, so the slug is the end of your, basically, your website’s URL or the link. So if
it’s
foodbloggingpro.com/oven-roasted-chicken-recipe, this is something that
people, at least back then, used to use for SEO so if your keyword was chicken recipe for family, what you might do is
chicken recipe for family with dashes in between to kind
of try to optimize further. But then the thing that really
focus on is the SEO title and in the meta description. So you can say in this
recipe, I’m going to share my mother’s best chicken
recipe for the whole family. You can feed four people or more for, in less than 30 minutes. Doesn’t that sound pretty good, right? So boom, we really targeted
chicken recipe for family, we did not really optimize
in terms of our content because this was just a dummy article that I just wrote up real quick but if you actually
spent a little more time, then you can work on your SEO, not just for your meta
description, so this is the title. This is what people see
when they’re looking up a certain keyword. If you pop up, this is what
they will read on Google. This is what it looks like. Now, you can go deeper and basically, the way that Yoast works is
they give you a red light, orange, and then green light depending on how well you’ve done your SEO and your search engine optimization and they actually help
you telling you exactly what you need to add to take your website from being in the red
or just being orange, just being kinda lukewarm
to being a green light, which is what you wanna
have with every single post, and article that you create. You wanna have everything SEO-optimized because search engine optimization
and the search results is how you get the best
organic traffic of people who are looking up your content
and your focus key phrase and they’re looking it up
and it gives you free traffic because you get to rank on Google and doesn’t cost anything
to rank on Google, you just need to make sure
you’re search engine optimized and then you will get
a lot of free traffic. So, SEO is something that we
could talk about for hours and we actually go more
in depth on the website but let’s move on to the
next form of traffic. All right, so the next
form of getting traffic I’d like to share with you guys today is called email marketing. So, you’ve probably
heard of email marketing and you probably heard of
companies like Mailchimp, AWeber before and these
are basically companies that provide email marketing
software and services. So what you can do is you can
collect emails on your website and then use those emails
to send automated emails, and also announcements and broadcasts. So the email marketing
software I like to use is called AWeber. Now, if you want to use
AWeber with your website, you need to create something
called an email opt-in form. Now, there are many plugins that can create an email opt-in form and I’m just gonna show you one today which is called the Hustle. and you can see, it’s
actually the same company that created the Smush
which I recommended earlier for image optimization and lazy load. Hustle is also from the same company so you know it’s coming
from a pretty strong company in the WordPress community and this is just one of the many email opt-in plugins that you can use. I believe another one is called
Sumo that you can check out that I used to use before. But I’m just gonna show
you this for an example. So I’ve already installed
and activated Hustle, and if you go into the actual plugin, you can create an embed. So in the embed this could be something that we put on to our page. So I’ve actually created
a newsletter embed. All you have to do is
create one, email opt-in, next, and then I just
labeled mine a newsletter but maybe I’ll make a new
one just to show you guys. So, the newsletter number two,
creating that embed right now and it’s going to have some things that you can change if you want to. You can customize this to your liking. I’m just gonna publish this as an example and you can see it is now ready to go. So what we’re gonna do
is we’re gonna put this on our homepage and the way to do this is we’re going to go into Display Options on this left-hand sidebar, we’re gonna copy this shortcode. Take the shortcode and we’re gonna go to our homepage under Pages and we’re going to embed this shortcode onto the homepage so that
it’s summons this widget, which is the embed form, just like we did with a contact us page, we summon the contact
form from the plugin, which was Contact Form 7. So I’m gonna edit the
homepage with Elementor. I’m gonna show you exactly
how to do this live. All right, so, we’re here at the homepage. You can see I was already
playing around here but I’m gonna delete this and I’m just gonna do this from scratch. So we’re gonna add a widget
called the shortcode widget, we’re gonna drag and drop this
on to the homepage right here and then we’re gonna copy and paste that shortcode we got from Hustle which is the email opt-in and
then we’re gonna apply that. Once you apply that,
make sure that you update early and often so that
we save our progress, and then we are going to preview this to see what this looks like. So, as you can see here, we are previewing and you can see we have a working email opt-in on our homepage,
it works perfectly fine and you put the first name,
last name, email, submit and then this will actually
get automatically added to your email marketing software if you integrate it within Hustle. So, you can easily go into
Hustle, go into integrations and then you can find a way to easily add any email marketing software that you use and then you can connect the two and what happens is every time someone puts their email
through your website, it gets sent to your
email marketing software and they can get either
an automated message or they will just be
there in your email list for whenever you want to
make a big announcement. All right, so the last form of traffic I wanna share in this video is going to be the Facebook Pixel. So, you’ve probably
heard about Facebook Ads and Instagram Ads before. Now, the way that most
beginners use Facebook Ads is actually not very efficient. What they do is they set general interests and they target people
based on very, very broad and general interests and hobbies, and this is not the way to do it because what happens is you’re
gonna end up showing your ad to basically thousands of people who may or may not be totally interested in what you or your website has to offer. Now, the other way to do this is to use something called retargeting. So the way that retargeting works is that if somebody visits your website, they get added to an audience,
a retargeting audience, and if you have the
Facebook Pixel installed onto your website,
especially from day one, you can start to populate
a retargeting audience, so everyone who visits your website, they’re added into this bucket. It’s a group of people who
have visited your website and you can actually show
an ad only to those people, so you know that they’re already warmed up and that they’ve already seen your website and you know that there is
some sort of interest there. When you just show your ad to cold traffic to thousands of people who
have never heard of your brand and they may or may not be interested in your niche or in your market, then that’s how people lose money. With Facebook Ads, the smart way to do it, especially if you don’t
have a large budget is to target people who have
already visited your website. So I’m not gonna get
into the entire process because it does take a little bit of time. We do have separate
tutorials on how to implement a Facebook Pixel onto your
website, how to install it, also how to install something
like Google Analytics, but basically, just keep in mind that adding a Facebook
Pixel to your website, especially from day
one, can be very useful because if you get a thousand visitors over the course of three months, you can actually show an ad, a paid ad just to the people who
have visited your website to make sure you gain
the most for your money. So, that basically wraps up our tutorial on how to make a WordPress website, and not just setting up your website but making a website that is fast, secure and that actually
gets traffic and visitors. So, I hope you enjoyed this video. If you did, make sure to
